Notes |
- Lorenza enlisted with the "Sandy Run Yellow Jackets" at Philadelphia Church in Rutherford County on September 2, 1861 along with brothers John H., Wiley, and David. The unit was designated Company B, 34th Regiment NC and entered Confederate service at Camp Mangum on January 1, 1862. In late April the 34th was sent to Virginia where it was eventually assigned to Pender's Brigade of A.P. Hill's division. On June 30, 1862, during the Battle of Frayser's Farm (one of a series of engagements which became known as the Seven Days Battles), Penders Brigade was in the thickest of the fight and the 34th sustained a terrible loss, one of which was Lorenza Bridges, killed in action.
